My First Wedding!

Author: Angel

Ilse got married today, at La Campana Benoni.

Ilse found my business card in my dad’s hospital room about a month ago and said she was convinced it was a sign as she has a thing about angels! We chatted a bit, and she settled on the chocolate cakes in silver cups with red fondant hearts and silver dragees for decoration.

The cake was make by Salon de Culinaire.

Layla is 3!

Author: Angel

Her mommy ordered Barney cupcakes for her! For these I went with a white butter icing, I did her name in fondant in green and purple letters, and put printed edible paper pictures on the rest. They’re vanilla cakes in yellow cups.

Happy birthday Layla!

Esmé’s Blue Birthday

Author: Angel

Esmé celebrated her birthday this weekend with a mixed order of chocolate and vanilla. Some have secret centres and some don’t, and they are in silver, dark blue and light blue paper cups. Her favourite colour is blue, so the vanilla butter icing is in shades of blue with white, and the decorations are too.

Happy birthday Esmé!

Chocolate and Apple…

Author: Angel

I was really fed up when I realised I hadn’t taken a picture of the Tarte Tatin (upside down apple tart cupcakes), especially since I had to do them twice! The first batch has an okay batter, but I ruined the caramel sauce and it turned into a burnt caramel sauce that looked and smelled too dreadful. So I did them again. The second time they were perfect and my fiancé reckons they’re the best Tarte Tatin I’ve ever done! And they are a lot of work with the apple in the batter and the glazed apple slices and home-made caramel sauce…

The other hald of this order was chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing and a chocolate malted honeycomb ball topping. I outdid myself on the icing for this one if I say so myself…

I hope you enjoy them Marleen.

Mixture For A Babyshower

Author: Angel

These were for someone who orders from me fairly often. She wanted a mixture of flavours and colours so she requested red velvet with cream cheese icing- and I found fresh raspberries to top them with. She also ordered my “soft serve” cupcakes, and then marble cupcakes with chocolate icing and little fondant bears in pink and blue.
