This two-tiered cake was done for a baby shower,
where the new baby’s nursery theme is baby, wild, African animals, and the mom-to-be loves giraffes.
The square bottom tier is my delectable chocolate cake and chocolate butter icing, covered in white sugar paste and decorated with edible ink, hand drawn baby animals on sugar paste panels, and moulded sugar paste bows.
Here are the four panels before I put them on the cake:
And here are some work-in-progress pictures of the giraffe cake topper, sculpted with sugar paste and hand painted, by me, without the use of any moulds.
Making the giraffe was a three day process, and I used several pictures of sleeping giraffes so I could study it from all angles while I was forming the sugar paste and then painting on the markings.
The proportions aren’t perfect, but I was very pleased with how it turned out.

It was so perfect, and everyone couldn’t believe the detail xxx
I am so glad you liked it! 😀
