The first tier is vanilla cake with vanilla butter icing, and the top tier a chocolate cake with chocolate butter icing.
I put Jordan’s name in 3D sugar paste letters on a sugar paste cloud. 🙂
I love trying to give my sugar paste figures a little personality by putting them in different poses and giving them different facial expressions.
This was my first attempt at doing gelatin bubbles as cake decorations – they are a sticky, messy, tricky task and my first bubbles weren’t perfect, but I think they looked pretty good once they were on the cake. 😀

I had so much fun with this order for little Mira’s first birthday celebration!
The cake has a vanilla bottom tier and a chocolate top tier, both covered with pink sugar paste. The top tier has baby’s name on the front with little gold dragees as accent, and a brown sugar paste bow.
The bottom tier is quilted and the little brown pearls were piped on with royal icing.
The cake topper is a sugar paste teddy wearing pearls and a bow, holding a pink #1.
There were chocolate cupcakes in gold paper cups and vanilla cupcakes in pink paper cups, decorated with handmade sugar paste cupcakes toppers teddybear faces – with bows and pearls.
There were also teddy-shaped cookies, decorated in pink, brown and white royal icing!
Mira’s mommy had a pink and brown tulle tutu made to go around the base of the cake, and the birthday girl had a matching tutu to wear for her party! 🙂 I got this picture from Nadine of the cake with its tutu!
This is a chocolate cake made to look like a tree stump, decorated with sugar paste toadstools, acorns, stones, vines, flowers, and hand made sugar paste animal friends – a fox, bird, bunny, owl, and raccoon.
The vanilla cupcakes in brown paper cups were topped with white vanilla buttercream, and decorated with handmade sugar paste owls in yellow, pink, orange, and mint green.
Here are the finished toadstools, leaves, and flowers, made in preparation for finishing the cake decoration and dried before being put on the cake.
