An Espresso Streussel Cake “Beater Test”

The recipe book describes this cake as a “Frankenstenian” melding of a cobbler, a Brown Betty pudding, and a Streussel, so I was intrigued!

Its a chocolate batter with chopped apple in it topped with roasted sugar tossed peanuts!! If you’re a fan of cake without icing, this little monster may be perfect for you.

Here it is after it came out of its baking tin!

And here it is cut so you can see the apple on the inside! Its quite dense so the apple doesn’t all sink to the bottom of the tin while its baking.

Seize the Chocolate beta tested it for me so you can pop over and see what she thought. When she collected it we had a cup of coffee and a slice of cake each… You know, to test the quality! She even froze it and thawed it successfully!

Calling All “Beater Testers”!!

This week’s inspiration is… well… nothing really, I just have a hankering to try a few new recipes!

These recipes will be ready for collection next week and the week after.

The terms of beta testing are as follows:

  • If you want to try one of these recipes, there’s a small price to cover the cost of the ingredients, and each one is individually priced.
  • Only one batch of each recipe is available, so its first-commented-first-served. You must leave a comment on this post and tell me which one you would like to try.
  • I will then email you further details- an invoice, my EFT details, a collection date and my address and directions.
  • If you have had beta-test order in the last month then I am afraid you will have to give someone else a turn to try something.
  • You can only opt to test one of these recipes.
  • Your order will have to be collected from me in Midrand.
  • Biscuits can wait for collection, but cakes, cheesecakes and cupcakes need to be collected the day they are baked, or a day later at most.
  • After you’ve sampled your beta test order- you must email me, write a blog post, or leave a comment and tell me what you thought- this is imperative as this is the whole point behind the beta-testing!

So here’s the list of recipes I am going to be attempting:

  • New York Cheesecake (one) – R150
  • Espresso Streussel Cake (one) – R100
  • Quinoa Almond Cake with Rose Petal Preserve – gluten free (one) – R100
  • Boston Cream Pie (one) – R80
