I Have a Bit of a Sweet Tooth

I have a sweet tooth, but not a sweet tooth for everything Рif that makes sense? I would rather eat a cookie than a cupcake or a slice or cake, and I love caramel and toffee, and jelly sweets.

A while ago I saw a video on Facebook for something called a Brigadeiro – a Brazilian treat made with butter and condensed milk, and I just had to try it! Its exactly the kind of sweet treat I love!
The classic Brigadeiro is a chocolate sweet, and its a long slow cooking process to get it to the right consistency. I wanted these to at least last the weekend ūüėõ so I made little dark chocolate and white chocolate “cups” to put the truffles into.

The chocolate ones were amazing! A rich, dark chocolate truffle!

There was also a strawberry recipe, but I didn’t have any strawberries so I went with blueberry, and they were so yummy!

There are also recipes for other flavours – a cookies and cream one, and a coconut one!

Ssssssnake

This little boy loves snakes and reptiles, and he asked for a red cobra, with fangs and eggs, for his birthday cake!

This is my favourite kind of cake to do! I don’t get to do a lot of them ‘coz they are expensive, and this one is HUGE!!
The head is sculpted sugar paste, the raised neck is Rice Krispy Treats, and the body is chocolate cake, with sugar paste eggs.
All handmade by ME!

Mrowrrrrr…

This two-tiered cake was for Amelie and Tenike’s birthday celebrations.

The bottom tier is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream filling and a pink and red, ombre buttercream cover, and the top tier is chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, covered with yellow sugar paste and orange shading. Its decorated with vines, leaves and flowers.

The cake topper is handmade by me, two lion cubs, one sporting pink hair and a bow, and a smaller one with a bow, representing the two birthday girls.

A Wheel for Liam!

Liam’s birthday party had a “Blaze” theme, so to compliment it I made a chocolate cake and decorated it to look like a tyre with flames around the base of the cake. The four birthday candles are held up by little sugar paste tyres.

There were also vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with orange sprinkles for his party, and for his school birthday celebration.

Wedding at Val Bonne Country Estate

What a nerve racking delivery to Val Bonne Country Estate!¬†A million, squillion speed bumps and drains on the way there – with a cake in the boot!¬†AND then I tripped on an inch-high step as I walked into the reception hall, and nearly threw the cake across the hall!!! o.O ūüėĬ†

The two-tier cake is vanilla cake with white vanilla buttercream filling. The top tier has a white sugar paste cover, with a border of sugar pearls, including a few turquoise pearls in between. The bottom tier is covered with light pink buttercream rosettes. The cake topper was provided by the bride.

The cupcakes were a delicious assortment of flavours! There were dark chocolate covered Oreo cupcakes, chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream, and lemon cupcakes with lemon curd filling and cream cheese icing.

I hope Mr & Mrs Visser had a dreamy day!
