The Valentines Day Special Cupcakes

Here are the cupcakes that I had up for grabs for Valentines Day! I hope you got your order in on time!

  • Three of the cupcakes have secret centres (Nutella, Turkish Delight and fudge)
  • They have two different toppings – butter icing and chocolate ganache
  • And they have six different Valentines Day themed decorations – custom made and moulded

Turkish Delight Cupcakes!

Tanya ordered these cupcakes for her mommy darling’s birthday!

And I thought that since its one of my most popular cupcakes that I would make it a Food24 Cupcake Competition entry as well.

These little beauties are vanilla cupcakes, some with lemon Turkish delight and some with rose Turkish delight secret centres, topped with vanilla butter icing and little bits of Turkish delight!

Get yourself some Turkish delight, with nice-sized squares, that doesn’t have a chocolate coating around it! There are lots of flavours to choose from- there’s the traditional rose, lemon, blackcurrant, cherry- take your pick!

Mix up your favourite favourite vanilla cupcake batter!

Put a tablespoon of batter into the bottom of each cupcake holder.

Put one square of Turkish delight- in your chosen flavour- onto the batter, then put another tablespoon of batter over the top of the Turkish delight.

Continue till you’ve run out of batter.

Or until you’ve run out of Turkish delight, should that be the case.

Vanilla Icing

1 cup white margarine (softened)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups icing sugar
2 tablespoons milk (I prefer water)
In a large bowl, cream the margarine and add the vanilla.
Blend in the sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
Beat in the milk (or water), and continue mixing until light and fluffy.
Keep icing covered until ready to decorate.
Swirl the icing on top of the cupcakes and decorate with some small blocks of Turkish delight- in a flavour matching the block inside- and sprinkle a little edible glitter!

A Something Club Tea

This weekend past I got to go to a bit of a TweetUp with some fabulous girls! I do love a good TweetUp!

The ever fabulous jessicamcd and beagle_momma did us a favour and organised a #SomethingClubTeaParty so they could get to know some ladies they had not yet had the opportunity to meet in person, and in attendance at Gia’s in Morningside was myself- TheCupcake_Ladyalidaonline, AndyWandy, Wi3sa, Eliza_Roza, rubyletters and philly_girl.

We had a glorious afternoon- thank you very much jessicamcd and beagle_momma– and as is my way I took a box of cupcakes with me! In the box for Saturday I had chocolate cupcakes with Turkish delight secret centres topped with chocolate butter icing and little blocks of Turkish delight, vanilla cupcakes with Turkish delights and vanilla icing topped with little blocks of Turkish delight, and then a small selection of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with butter icing for those who are not mad about Turkish delight.

Chocolate, Chocolate, and Chocolate Cupcakes!

Remember Aimee’s wedding from a few weeks ago? Her mom loved the wedding cupcakes so much she ordered the same ones for a birthday party this weekend!

These chocolate cupcakes have either a Turkish delight secret centre, or a creme caramel secret centre and are smothered in chocolate butter icing!

Wedding Chocolate

This past weekend, Aimee and Louis got married at Accolades in Midrand.

They came to see me for the first time late last year and came back again a few weeks before their wedding. They both wanted chocolate cupcakes but Louis liked the Turkish delight secret centres and Aimee the creme caramels, so they did both!

Email from Aimee:

I just wanted to thank you so much for the awesome cupcakes, they looked great and everyone LOVED them
