The Cupcake Lady

I made strawberry cupcakes with cream cheese icing, chocolate cupcakes with a creme-caramel secret centre topped with chocolate butter icing and chocolate discs and rolls, and I made vanilla cakes- some with secret centres- topped with white vanilla butter icing, red fondant hearts and black fondant music notes and symbols.

I had special cupcake wrappers made with a red and white paisley theme and our monogram in purple on the front. They looked spectacular!

My mom and sisters helped me ice and decorate them the night before the wedding, and we had great fun in my kitchen.

The following photographs were taken by many different people- myself, our official wedding photographer Jeanette Verster, my sister Candy, my daddy darling and my friend Wenchy! They’re in no particular order, but I think you’ll enjoy them.

Instead of cutting a cake, we only had my cupcakes and we fed one to each other after the ceremony!

Two weeks after the wedding, we had a Trash-The-Dress shoot, and we started in my kitchen where I was “baking” cupcakes! You can see some of those photos here!

The Cupcake Lady is getting married this Saturday!

Thassaright! She’ll be baking the cupcakes for her own wedding, but she won’t be able to cater for any orders till August 9^th.

I didn’t take part as a wedding planner, but I dropped off 6 dozen cupcakes of all kinds for the attendees to taste test!

There were coffee flavoured cupcakes with mini koeksister secret centres, chocolate cupcakes with strawberry secret centres. There were strawberry cupcakes, vanilla cupcakes with creme-caramel secret centres and red velvet cupcakes. I did vanilla butter icing, cream cheese icing and chocolate butter icing. And I used all sorts of different decorations including fondant flowers, fresh raspberries and cherries.

I’m hoping the brides and wedding planners who are taking part in the speed-date-a-wedding-planner day will all be future customers!

Ilse got married today, at La Campana Benoni.

Ilse found my business card in my dad’s hospital room about a month ago and said she was convinced it was a sign as she has a thing about angels! We chatted a bit, and she settled on the chocolate cakes in silver cups with red fondant hearts and silver dragees for decoration.

The cake was make by Salon de Culinaire.

I baked cupcakes for our engagement shoot in January. I actually kept a few cupcakes from several batches I’d baked through the week- so they weren’t all terribly fresh… I then iced all the extras I’d kept so they’d be pretty in the photographs.
