This beta test was tasted by Anneke for me, and to use her words “Kiss of cinnamon, that’s all I can say!” This cupcake is a tribute to my favourite cookie, the Snickerdoodle!

Here they are as they looked when they came out of the oven, and I always get a special sense of achievement when a scratch recipe comes out of the oven perfectly:

The cupcake and the butter icing has cinnamon spice mixed into it and it is beautifully balanced- its not too sweet and the cinnamon is not overpowering. Its the perfect accompaniment to a cup of coffee!

Calling All “Beater Testers”!!

So here’s the list of recipes I am going to be attempting:

  • Strawberry Brownie cupcakes with cream cheese icing (12)
  • S’mores cupcakes (12)          Thanks to Facebook- Tanya, Zaheera, and Samantha will be testing these for me!
  • Red Velvet brownies (12)          Ceanne will be testing these!
  • Boston Cream Pie cupcakes (12)
  • Snickerdoodle cupcakes (12)          Altie will be testing these, which are based on my favourite cookie!

The terms of beta testing are as follows:

  • If you want to try one of these recipes, there’s a small price to cover the cost of the ingredients, and each recipe is individually priced.
  • Only one batch of each recipe is available, so its first-commented-first-served. You must leave a comment on this post and tell me which one you would like to try.
  • I will then email you further details- an invoice, my EFT details, a collection date and my address and directions.
  • If you have done a beta-test in the last month then I am afraid you will have to give someone else a turn to try something.
  • You can only opt to test one of these recipes.
  • Your order will have to be collected from me in Midrand.
  • Biscuits can wait for collection, but cakes, cheesecakes and cupcakes need to be collected the day they are baked, or a day later at most.
  • After you’ve sampled your beta test order- you must email me, write a blog post, or leave a comment and tell me what you thought- this is imperative as this is the whole point behind the beta-testing!

“Beater Test” Inspired By An Ice Cream

I was inspired by an ice cream and I had a brainwave for a bit of a beta test!

I’m going to call this one…

“Strawberry Heaven“

So who wants to try it?

Its a strawberry cupcake topped with white chocolate ganache and a sprinkling of shortcake pieces, and you can have a batch of 12 cupcakes for R150!

Calling All “Beater Testers”!!

I am getting more and more requests for cakes, and I hate to turn an order down so I am going to work on honing my cake decorating skills.

To that end, I am going to do beta tests with decorating instead of recipes. I will pick a theme for a cake and announce it here, and on the same principles as the recipe testing you will be able to order a decorated cake and pay only for the ingredients.

To begin with these will be a one tier chocolate cake (because it is dense enough to hold the icing) but I will be trying multi-tier cakes and 3D novelty cakes in time as well.

The first one I want to try is a “Best In Show” doggy themed cake! It will be ready for collection from my house by next Friday morning- 2 March 2012 (the usual terms and conditions apply) and you can have it for a mere R250!
