This two-tier, semi-naked vanilla cake has a vanilla butter icing cover
and there’s vanilla butter icing between the cake layers…
AS WELL AS CHOPPED FUDGE!
The fudge is the classic South African sugary fudge, not the American-style chocolate fudge,
and the combination of cake, icing and fudge is out of this world delicious!

What a nerve racking delivery to Val Bonne Country Estate! A million, squillion speed bumps and drains on the way there – with a cake in the boot! AND then I tripped on an inch-high step as I walked into the reception hall, and nearly threw the cake across the hall!!! o.O 😀
The two-tier cake is vanilla cake with white vanilla buttercream filling. The top tier has a white sugar paste cover, with a border of sugar pearls, including a few turquoise pearls in between. The bottom tier is covered with light pink buttercream rosettes. The cake topper was provided by the bride.
The cupcakes were a delicious assortment of flavours! There were dark chocolate covered Oreo cupcakes, chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream, and lemon cupcakes with lemon curd filling and cream cheese icing.
I have been DYING to do one of the “on-trend” unicorn cakes that are all over the internet, but I haven’t had the opportunity*, so when I saw this bunny cake design I decided it would be perfect to do a similar design for our family’s Easter celebration.
I’ve also been dying to do a piñata cake, so I made this a “surprise inside” cake using jelly beans!
Here is the chocolate “giggling bunny” cake I did for my family – full of jelly beans! I was rushed, so his hands and muzzle aren’t as soft and rounded as I would have wanted, but everyone loved it!
I decorated the cake board with sugar paste carrot tops, and sugar paste Easter eggs.
To protect the jelly beans inside from the moisture of the cake, I made a little “box” with melted chocolate.
