Angela and Stephen’s little boy was born on the 4th of July, and to celebrate his first birthday they decided to have a stars and stripes themed, red, white and blue birthday party.

Instead of just ordering cupcakes that matched the colour scheme though, the birthday boys’ parents decided to go with cupcakes that echo favourite American treats as well, so their cupcake assortment consisted of the following…

Chocolate cupcakes with white vanilla butter icing and red, blue and white star shaped sprinkles in red paper cups…

Snickerdoodle cupcakes in red paper cups! These cupcakes are inspired by Snickerdoodle cookies (one of my favourite cookies), they have a light cinnamon flavour and are topped with a little drizzle of white chocolate ganache before being covered with a cinnamon-butter icing and some cinnamon sugar.

PB&J cupcakes are peanut butter flavoured cupcakes with peanut butter icing and some strawberry jam.

S’mores cupcakes are a favourite with many people. Once you taste them you really do want s’more! The Graham Cracker cupcake is filled with a homemade marshmallow fluff, then topped with a dark chocolate ganache, and finally a another swirl of marshmallow fluff which is lightly toasted. These cupcakes are inspired by the American camping treat – marshmallows and chocolate toasted over a fire between two biscuits.

Earlier this week Adeline contacted me via Twitter and asked if she could send a birthday cupcake order to her friend Claire who was turning 30!
I hope Claire liked her surprise – red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing, rich dark chocolate cupcakes with cappuccino icing and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla butter icing!

I celebrated my actual birthday today, and turned thirty nine years old with some of my family visiting at our house for cake and tea.
Since my husband and I celebrated our birthdays together at the end of November, today was not a huge celebration day for me.
I couldn’t not bake though, so I made vanilla cupcakes and filled them with the Pillsbury chocolate icing that I got as part of my gift hamper from them. I topped them with a dark choral-pink vanilla butter icing, sprinkled some pink, orange and silver dragees, topped a few of them with sparkly silver “A”s and added glitter- of course!

Shoowee…

Last week was busy, and the next few weeks are going to be busy ones too…

The problem though is that it feels like my brain has already shut down for the holidays!

I know I am not the only one feeling this way though, thank goodness!

These chocolate cupcakes with purple vanilla butter icing and sugarpaste decorations were sent as a surprise birthday gift to Carla’s cousin!
How awesome is that!??!
I got a small sparkly birthday card and wrote a message in it from Carla, her hubby and daughter and delivered the box of purple loveliness to the birthday girl’s place of work.
